The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship supports emerging leaders committed to strengthening the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.
Hosted by the Aspen Institute’s Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation (PSI), this prestigious fellowship provides hands-on experience in research, writing, event management, and policy-related program support.
The fellowship focuses on social impact, nonprofit capacity-building, diversity in leadership, civic engagement, and strategic philanthropy.
Fellows receive mentorship from Aspen Institute experts and contribute directly to high-impact initiatives, public programs, and sector-wide research.
This opportunity is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students seeking professional exposure to philanthropy, social innovation, nonprofit strategy, and policy research.
Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply:
• Undergraduate or graduate students (any field, with relevant interest)
• Applicants with strong academic performance
• Students with demonstrated financial need
• Interest or background in:
– public policy, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, social innovation, community development, or related
social-sector fields
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and community impact

Funding / Coverage
Hearst Endowed Fellowship Benefits
• Paid fellowship position (Approx. $18–$19 per hour, part-time)
