Postdoctoral Fellow in Earth Observation

Lund University, one of the world’s top-ranked universities founded in 1666, is offering a 3-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Earth Observation. The position focuses on vegetation fires, land abandonment, and recultivation, using satellite data (Sentinel, Landsat) and spatial analysis to understand land-use change and environmental dynamics. The project is part of the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science and the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Applicants must hold a PhD in Physical Geography, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, or a closely related field (completed within the last 3 years).
• Strong research record and publication history.
• Proficiency in GIS, spatial analysis, and Earth observation methods.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Experience with remote sensing, statistics, and programming (R, Python, or JavaScript) preferred.
• Open to applicants of all nationalities.
Funding / Coverage:
• Full-time paid position for up to 3 years.
• Monthly salary based on experience and institutional regulations.

• Up to 20% teaching duties possible.
