The MEXT Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation) is a fully funded Japanese government scholarship for international students who wish to pursue graduate-level research leading to a Master’s or PhD degree at Japanese universities. The program aims to develop global leaders and strengthen international cooperation through education and research.
This scholarship provides full financial support for international students to study and conduct research in Japan, starting in April or September/October 2026, through nomination by their local Japanese Embassy or Consulate.
Eligibility Criteria
*Born on or after April 2, 1991
*Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent by the time of departure
*Strong academic background and clear research motivation
*Good physical and mental health (medical certificate required)
*Must apply through the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in their home country
