Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply:

• Undergraduate students (minimum two years completed)

• Graduate students & early-career professionals

• Domestic (US) and international applicants

• Candidates with academic or professional backgrounds in:
– law, criminal justice, social work, psychology, public health, program management, data analysis
– international relations, communications, cybersecurity, public policy, IT, social sciences, humanities

• Strong interest in justice, human rights, and violence prevention

• Alignment with IJM’s mission and values (faith-informed organization)

• For field placements: relevant education, language skills, or cross-cultural experience may be required

• Must meet role-specific qualifications listed on IJM’s careers site

The IJM Summer 2026 Internships and Global Fellowships provide early-career professionals and students with the opportunity to contribute to world-leading anti-trafficking, justice system strengthening, and human rights protection work.

Interns and fellows support IJM’s mission to protect vulnerable children, women, and communities from violence such as trafficking, exploitation, and abuse.
The program offers placements in headquarters roles (Washington, D.C. or remote) as well as field-office positions across IJM’s global network.

Participants gain hands-on experience in legal casework, investigations support, program management, communications, aftercare research, cybersecurity, policy advocacy, and more.
The program includes mentorship from IJM experts, professional development opportunities, and exposure to real-world justice system interventions.
Ideal for students or professionals passionate about human rights, justice reform, global development, crime prevention, or survivor-centered advocacy.

Funding / Coverage
IJM Internship & Fellowship Package
(Varies by role and location)

• Many positions unpaid (common for HQ & remote internships)

• Some fellowships may include limited stipends or support

• Professional mentorship from IJM staff and global justice experts

• Training on trauma-informed and survivor-centered practices

• Field-office fellows receive on-the-ground experience with justice system interventions

• Opportunities to contribute to real investigations, case support, and community-level programs
Additional Notes:

• International applicants are welcome

• Participants must cover travel, visa, living expenses (unless otherwise stated)

• Highly competitive; strong motivation and relevant skills increase chances of selection
