Eligibility Criteria

• PhD candidates (early-stage researchers)

• Postdoctoral researchers

• University lecturers / academic staff

• Must be affiliated with a university or research institution

• Must be from eligible Global South countries (including Ethiopia)

• Must not already be residing in Germany during application

The GROW – Global Research Opportunities for the South programme supports researchers from developing countries through fully funded research stays in Germany.

The program focuses on advancing research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including climate change, public health, education, and sustainable development.

It aims to strengthen international academic collaboration, enhance research capacity in the Global South, and promote knowledge exchange between German institutions and researchers worldwide.

Participants will engage in impactful research while building long-term academic partnerships and contributing to development in their home countries.

Funding / Scholarship Benefits
Fully funded package includes:
• Monthly stipend:
• €1,400 (PhD / postdocs)
• €2,000–€2,150 (academic staff)
• International travel allowance
• Health, accident & liability insurance
• Additional support (if applicable)
• Access to world-class German research facilities
