The University of Iceland PhD Student in Economics Position 2026 is a fully funded doctoral research opportunity for highly motivated graduates who wish to pursue advanced research in economics while working with an internationally recognized research team in Reykjavík, Iceland.
The successful applicant will join the Consortium on Compensating Income Variation (ConCIV) and conduct cutting-edge research in labor economics, welfare economics, education, retirement, and subjective well-being. The research will make use of advanced econometric methods, longitudinal datasets, and natural experiments to produce high-impact academic publications and a doctoral dissertation.
Throughout the program, the PhD student will receive close supervision from experienced researchers, participate in international conferences and research collaborations, and become part of a vibrant academic environment at one of the Nordic region's leading universities.
Eligibility Criteria
• Open to applicants from all countries
• Hold (or complete before the start date) a Master's degree in Economics or a closely related field
• Strong quantitative and analytical research skills
• Experience with statistics and econometric analysis is an advantage
• Excellent written and spoken English skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international research environment
• Must meet the University of Iceland's PhD admission requirements
