The EM-SLAM PhD Studentship 2026 is a fully funded doctoral programme in the United Kingdom focusing on the intersection of sustainable living, climate change, and mental wellbeing.
The programme is designed to train the next generation of researchers who will explore how environmental challenges—such as climate change and ecological crises—affect human wellbeing, communities, and social systems.
Through interdisciplinary research across the arts, humanities, and social sciences, doctoral candidates will investigate topics such as climate anxiety, environmental storytelling, sustainable communities, and the psychological impacts of environmental change.
The programme is delivered collaboratively by leading universities in the East Midlands region and supported by the UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
Successful applicants will join a dynamic cohort of doctoral researchers, receive advanced research training, and engage with community partners, policymakers, and cultural organizations to create research that supports sustainable futures and improved mental wellbeing.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in climate, society, sustainability, and mental health research within an interdisciplinary academic environment.
