The European External Action Service (EEAS) offers funded traineeships at the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York for young graduates interested in international relations, diplomacy, human rights, security, and sustainable development.
This is a paid traineeship of up to 6 months, starting in March 2026, offering hands-on experience within different sections of the EU Delegation to the UN, including political affairs, human rights, humanitarian affairs, sustainable development, and legal affairs.
Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply (degree, country, age, etc.)
*Young graduates (all nationalities may apply unless otherwise restricted)
*Must have less than 1 year of professional experience after graduation
(student jobs and internships excluded)
*Strong interest in international relations, diplomacy, EU or UN affairs
*Excellent English drafting skills (French is an asset)
*Knowledge of EU and UN systems is an advantage
Visa Requirement:
*Trainees must arrange their own visa/work permit
*EEAS provides a letter to request a G3 visa
*Visa must be valid for the full traineeship duration
Funding / Coverage
What’s covered (tuition, travel, stipend)
*Monthly grant to cover living expenses
*Travel costs not covered
*Visa, insurance, accommodation costs not covered
