The Bloomberg Philanthropies PhD Studentship in Cities supports research focused on urban governance, city leadership, and innovation. Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply:
• Open to students of all nationalities (with a cap per country)
• Must apply for one of the following LSE PhD programs:
*MRes/PhD Political Science (urban governance focus)
*MPhil/PhD Human Geography and Urban Studies
*MPhil/PhD Regional and Urban Planning Studies
*MPhil/PhD Management – Information Systems and Innovation (urban management focus)
*MPhil/PhD Sociology (cities focus)
• Strong research interest in city governance, management, or innovation
Funding / Coverage
The studentship provides:
• Full tuition fees
• Annual stipend of £22,780 (for 2025/26)
• Additional funding to support city engagement and research activities
