United Nations Volunteers (UNV)

The UN Volunteer (UNV) Program 2025–26 offers global opportunities for individuals to contribute to peace and development through volunteer service.
Volunteers work with UN agencies and partners worldwide, either in-person (international or national) or online, helping communities achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Assignments vary from humanitarian support and education to environmental and social development projects.

Location: Worldwide — placements in over 150 countries through UN agencies and partners.
Online volunteer roles are also available for remote participation.

    Funding / Coverage
    UNV assignments are not salaried but come with several benefits and support packages:

    - Monthly living allowance (to cover basic needs)

    - Travel allowance (to and from duty station)

    - Health and life insurance

    - Resettlement allowance after assignment completion
    (Coverage may vary depending on assignment type and location)
    Eligibility Criteria
    * Age Requirement: 18 to 80 years old (varies by assignment)

    * Education: Minimum secondary education to university degree (depending on role)

    * Experience: Relevant professional or volunteer experience preferred

    * Language: Proficiency in English required; knowledge of French, Spanish, or other UN languages is an asset

    *Nationality: Open to applicants from all countries

    * Volunteer Types:
    - International UN Volunteers (serve abroad)
    -National UN Volunteers (serve in home country)
    - Online Volunteers (remote engagement)
