UNU-WIDER is a leading international development economics think tank based in Helsinki, Finland. It provides economic analysis and policy advice with the aim of promoting sustainable and equitable development for all.

Location: Helsinki, Finland

    The Research Assistant (Consultant) role will support UNU-WIDER’s programme Reducing Persistent Inequalities Across and Within Countries. As a Research Assistant, you will:

    *Support research on inequality, public policy, and the net-zero transition

    *Collect, clean, and analyse data for policy-relevant studies

    *Contribute to working papers, reports, and publications

    *Assist in organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops

    *Collaborate with multicultural research teams on capacity development and policy engagement
    Eligibility:

    *Master’s degree in economics or a related field (PhD candidates preferred)

    *Strong skills in quantitative analysis, econometrics, and data handling

    *Advanced proficiency in R or STATA (Python is an asset)

    *Knowledge of economic development and public finance is an advantage

    *Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

    *Ability to work independently and in multicultural teams

    *Must have right to work in Finland (EU/EFTA citizens or local residence/work permit holders only)
