The United Nations University (UNU) is the academic and research arm of the United Nations. It contributes policy-relevant research, capacity development, and knowledge to support global sustainable development, peace, governance, and innovation.

Tokyo, Japan (On-site; limited remote possibility depending on term)

    UNU has opened applications for its Junior Fellows Internship Programme, a highly competitive opportunity for graduates and young professionals. The programme offers hands-on experience within the Office of the Rector at UNU Headquarters in Tokyo.

    Junior Fellows support research, policy analysis, executive brief preparation, event coordination, communications, and administrative processes. The programme includes structured mentorship and a one-week orientation, providing strong exposure to UN systems and international decision-making.
    Eligibility Criteria

    *Postgraduate students (Master’s/PhD) or graduates within 2 years

    *Under 32 years old at time of application

    *Maximum 5 years of relevant work experience

    *Strong research, analytical, and writing skills

    *Fluency in English

    *Strong MS Office skills (Excel proficiency is an asset)

    *Demonstrated interest in the UN system
