The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) works to achieve global food security and end hunger by supporting countries to transform agrifood systems for better production, nutrition, environment, and life.
The Evaluation Officer position, based in Accra, Ghana, supports FAO’s Office of Evaluation (OED) in assessing and improving the organization’s programs and projects to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and learning across regions.

Location: Lund, Skåne län, Sweden

    The Evaluation Officer (P-3) will design, conduct, and manage evaluations of FAO’s programs, projects, and initiatives, ensuring quality, methodological rigor, and usefulness of findings to inform decision-making.
    Key Responsibilities
    • Design and conduct project and program evaluations

    • Prepare evaluation reports, briefs, and presentations

    • Lead analytical work (qualitative & quantitative)

    • Present evaluation findings to stakeholders

    • Promote the use of evaluations in FAO’s planning and implementation

    • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluation teams

    • Stay updated with new evaluation methodologies

    Eligibility Criteria
    • Advanced university degree in data science, economics, geography, political science, sociology, statistics, or public policy

    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in conducting or managing development evaluations

    • Working knowledge of English (C level) and intermediate knowledge of another FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish)

    • Ph.D. preferred

    • Proven research and publication record (with at least three peer-reviewed journal articles)

    • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills

    • Experience in FAO-related sectors (agriculture, food systems, environment, resilience, etc.) desirable
