Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme – Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The JPO Programme offers young professionals from the Netherlands and eligible developing countries the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with UN organizations. It supports international development cooperation and multilateral policy work through 3-year assignments (maximum).

Location
Various international duty stations (current openings in Nairobi, Kenya)

    Entry-level UN positions focused on policy development and programme implementation. Current openings in Nairobi include roles with UNEP, UNFPA, and UNAIDS. JPOs receive structured learning, professional development, and international exposure.
    Eligibility Criteria

    *Master’s degree + 2 years’ experience OR Bachelor’s + 4 years’ experience

    *Maximum age: 32 years

    *Strong English skills

    *Limited prior UN work experience (max 1 year)

    *Dutch nationality OR eligible developing country nationality (based on category)

    *Interest in international development cooperation
