Education Development Trust (EDT)

EDT is implementing the Leaders in Teaching Ethiopia (LiTE) project to improve secondary education quality and relevance. Zonal Education Officers will coordinate, support, and monitor project implementation at cluster and school levels across assigned regions, ensuring alignment with competency-based curriculum and national education priorities.

Location
Regional – Ethiopia (Borena, Guji, Illababor, Jimma, Shoa North/East/West, Wellega East/West, Hosana, Wolkitie, West Guji)

    The Zonal Education Officer supports teacher professional development, school leadership, inclusion, and transition interventions. The role acts as a link between project design and classroom practice, working with school facilitators, teachers, school leaders, and local education offices to ensure high-quality delivery.
    Eligibility Criteria / Qualifications

    *Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, TVET, Competency-Based Education)

    *Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering donor-funded education programs, focusing on secondary education

    *Proven experience with schools, teachers, and sub-national education offices (Woreda/Zonal) on teacher training and CPD initiatives

    *Expertise in teacher professional development, school leadership support, or competency-based curriculum delivery

    *Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to child protection, equity, and inclusion


    Responsibilities

    *Coordinate and monitor project activities at cluster and school levels

    *Support teacher professional development and school leadership initiatives

    *Ensure inclusion and support transitions for secondary students

    *Collaborate with School Facilitators, teachers, and local education offices

    *Align activities with LiTE technical standards and competency-based curriculum
